Put a twist on your average caramel apples and make caramel Butterfinger Apple Nachos! These apple nachos are easy to make and guaranteed to be a kid-favorite.
October screams caramel apple-making traditions. It’s one of those traditions you enjoy doing as a family and the kids look forward to every year. My kids are always excited to make caramel apples, especially after seeing all the creative apples at Disneyland. Have you had one of them? They’re enormous! Disneyland’s gourmet apples are filled with inspiration for our own caramel apple making traditions. Last year the little kids had a hard time biting into their apples so we cut them into slices and we haven’t looked back. For me it’s the only way to eat them and finger foods are just so much easier. Since then we’ve made what we call Apple Nachos for dessert a few times this year. We often experiment with different toppings, this time our winner was fun size Butterfingers. That’s right, save those candy bars from your kids Halloween stash!
This apple nacho recipe is adapted from Taste of Home. The granny smith apples are topped with caramel, melted marshmallows, crushed Butterfinger candy bars, and white chocolate chips. You could also substitute the marshmallows and butter for melted white chocolate chips. I like to serve them on a large platter in the center of the table and everyone digs in.

Looks delicious!!!!!!! How do you keep the apples from browning?
Tried these for a family weekend get away. Was very nice to have one peeling the apples, another melting the caramels and another coring and thinly slicing the apples and yet another spreading the thinly sliced apples out to make it look like actual nachos. Even with all the extra hands, apples started turning brown…I personally don’t care about the brown-ness but, I would say you couldn’t really prepare this dish ahead to take somewhere.
I omitted the marsh mellows, butter & white chocolate chips and instead increased the butter fingers to 1 whole butter finger with chopped pecans. There was a suggestion of dipping the apples in a lemon water but then….all of the apples would have to be patted dry. The caramel didn’t really stick to the sliced apples but the end result was TOTALLY FABULOUS! Loved being able to through a cookie sheet on the table and have all the fun of hands and elbow while trying to get at it. I would highly recommend this to a fun family evening with “all hands on deck”
Thank you for sharing this wonderful idea!
