How to make chocolate covered cinnamon bears and Valentine’s Day printable
Hello, friends! Can you believe Valentine’s Day is a month away? Time is flying by. I’m still in post-holiday fog but slowly starting to find Valentine’s Day inspiration. As the holiday slowly starts to creep up I’ve been thinking of what to make for the kids this year. I like to surprise them on the morning of Valentine’s Day with a small handmade gift and treats. It’s usually easy treats like chocolate covered strawberries, cupcakes, or chocolate covered popcorn. This year I’m planning on making them chocolate covered cinnamon bears!
Chocolate covered gummy bears are one of my favorite candies. Whenever I’m traveling I pick up a bag in airports that have candy stores. By the way, those are the worst stores to have in an airport. My traveling mentality kicks in and I’m like “ehh, when am I going to come across these again?” So a ridiculous amount of money later I’m walking to my gate with a tiny bag of candy that I just HAD to have. My solution is to make my own. Today I’m sharing this easy recipe for making your own chocolate covered cinnamon bears.
A few tips before we get started: 1) insert a toothpick into each gummy bear for quick and easy dipping. 2) Place the gummy bears (after the toothpick has been inserted) in the freezer for 20 minutes. This will keep them cold while you dip them in the chocolate without melting the gummy bear and it will help the chocolate harden quicker. 3) Have a Styrofoam block ready to place the toothpicks in. This is the easiest way to get perfectly covered gummy bears without the mess. Lastly, use your favorite chocolate…the better the quality the better they taste! I really love using Ghirardelli Melting Wafers (amazon affiliate link). They melt quickly and cover the candy evenly.
Chocolate Covered Cinnamon Bears
Ingredients
- 1 cup chocolate melting wafers
- 1 package cinnamon gummy bears
Instructions
- Insert toothpicks into each gummy bear. Put gummy bears in the freezer for 20 minutes.
- Melt chocolate wafers over a double boiler or in microwave, stirring every 30 seconds. Once melted allow chocolate to cool for a few minutes.
- Quickly dip gummy bears in chocolate, remove excess chocolate and insert toothpick into styrofoam block. Allow chocolate to set for 20 minutes or place in refrigerator for 5 mins. Remove toothpick and enjoy!
These would make a cute Valentine idea for friends and family. I made a printable tag that you can add to a mason jar filled with chocolate gummy bears or tied to a cellophane treat bag.
