Hey guys! I have an easy kids craft to share with you today..a Duck Tape® pencil pouch!
My oldest and I have been crafting with Duck Tape® a lot lately. Over the summer we made duck tape wallets and a few glow in the dark crafts with the glow in the dark tape. Have you used it? My kids love it! I’m a big fan of all the fun patterns and colors Duck Brand has created. Did you know you can buy Duck Tape at Walmart in their craft and paint department? FYI my local Walmart had 3 times as much Duck Tape® in their paint department than their craft! That’s where i found this aweosme denim tape.
As I’ve mentioned before my daughter started preschool last week and in an attempt to keep her school supplies and papers organized we have a designated homework station for her. We bought a binder to store all of her artwork she brings home and inside we have a pencil pouch to hold her supplies in. In our initial back to school shopping trip we didn’t buy her a pencil pouch, because she doesn’t have a need for one at school, but she’s been asking for one to keep at home. So I thought it would be fun to make her a personalized case, which she was thrilled about. She’s young so I had her help with minor things like holding the tape in place and folding it over when needed. I did I all of the x-acto knife work but this is definitely a craft older kids can make with scissors.
To make the Duck Tape® pencil pouch I used a clear pouch, three colors of Duck Tape®, a scrapbook brad, and hot glue. I covered the front and back of the pouch with the denim patterned tape. I then trimmed the turquoise tape to 1 1/4 inch wide to use as a border. To make the Duck Tape® flower I folded over 90% of the tape, leaving a half inch section uncovered. I then pleated the tape to create a flower and glued it onto the pouch.
Seriously, how awesome is that denim tape print? Look at the distressed denim lines! My 12 year old self would be ecstatic to stick this all over school supplies. This lockers, binders, book covers, and notebooks!
I love the idea of using the clear pouch as a base! The colors of Duck Tape are so cute too! Thanks for sharing, my kids would love this!
How fun!! I wish my girls were younger to do this. Love it! Pinning it!
Great idea! I love all of the fun Duct Tape Patterns but I never know what to do with them. Thanks for sharing.
