Neutral Gallery WallI have a confession to make. While crafting has always been fun, home decorating does not come easily to me. We bought our home 7 years ago and it’s taken me years to find my style. Of course trends change over time but what I’ve found is that I would much rather decorate with a neutral palette than color. It’s narrowing down the style that tends to overwhelm me. I like a mix of farmhouse décor, bright whites, minimalist vibes, and sometimes even glam pieces with mirrors. See? My style is all over the place! Michaels recently released 4 new exclusive collections of gallery wall and home décor items with several styles to choose from. I had the opportunity to decorate with the Alexandria collection and it was the perfect fit for this large wall in my living room that’s been empty for years.
How to style a gallery wall
As I mentioned, I tend to go with neutral colors and really wanted to keep this wall as simple as possible. I used neutral tone prints and scrapbook paper to fill the frames. I actually ordered black and white photos for these frames but until they arrive the scrapbook paper has made a great replacement.
I placed some of the heavier items like this clock on top of my piano. I’m a little obsessed with clocks and this made a great addition to my collection. The numbers and distressed grey color are perfect!I added a few other pieces from Michaels, like this reclaimed wood letter for our last name. The white wash heart is from the wood aisle and the large watering can and eucalyptus are from the spring floral aisle.
The grey and gold foil feather print made a great focal point for the gallery wall. I debated whether to place it in the center and build around it, but chose to work my way up instead. Eventually I’ll add a few more picture frames and I may need to reevaluate the layout but for now I’m pretty happy to have this space decorated.
The 4 new gallery wall collections are exclusive to Michaels and make it easy to create your own gallery wall in a few simple steps. You can mix and match between the lines to create the perfect eclectic gallery wall that fits your style. In addition to the Alexandria collection, check out the Farmington (think amazing farmhouse style décor), Savannah and Catalina.
Very nice…I LOVE that clock!
