Last-Minute Halloween Treats
Hey friends! Are you ready for Halloween? We recently returned from a trip to New York and it’s put me way behind on finishing costumes. We had the most amazing time in New York City being tourists and exploring the sights without the kids. I wish we could’ve stayed longer but then again I’m sure we’d be using sheets for Halloween ghost costumes if we did prolong our stay. My Frozen Anna costume hasn’t even been started! But I’m so excited for Halloween this year. The kids are at an age where they’re really into the idea of trick or treating and dressing up. I’m sure I’ve shared this over the years but Halloween is my son’s birthday so it’s always a big celebration for us. A Halloween birthday also guarantees a lot of treats are involved.
My son recently pointed out that we haven’t made graveyard cups and mummy dogs this October. Eeek! How did that happen? They’re always an October staple around here. But not to worry, we’ll be making mummy dogs for dinner tonight and then enjoying chocolate mousse graveyard cups for dessert. You can find the recipe for the graveyard cups at Better Homes and Gardens.
For our friends we’re making these delicious Goblin truffles {Oreo cookie balls}. I shared the recipe over at Better Homes and Garden as well. You guys, my kids loved these! They’re the perfect last minute Halloween treat idea. They’re so easy to make and the base of the truffle only requires 3 ingredients. You could serve them at your Halloween party or wrap them in clear bags with ribbon or small candy boxes for friends and co-workers.
The little graveyard cups are so clever! What a brilliant idea!
With all our grand kids practically being too old to trick or treat we don’t do much around our house. No kids have come to our neighborhood to trick or treat in 8 yrs. we’ve been here. Enjoy all those goodies and the fun of Halloween. Happy birthday to your son. How old will he be? I miss all that fun of kids coming, ours dressing up and sharing some of their loot with their parents.
People didn’t have to worry about bad candy in those days. Our kids (4) are all much older than most of bloggers I subscribe to. Our oldest is 54, 51 (almost 52 with b/d just before Christmas) and 50 1/2 and 44 for youngest. Now they get to enjoy it with their kids.
Your treats sure look and sound so yummy. But I’ll read about them, keep them away from me, you/hubs/friends enjoy all of them with your kids. Have gobs of fun tomorrow. How did it get to be Halloween already? Hope you get your costume done. Happy days
