DIY Disney UP Pumpkin – how to make a no-carve pumpkin inspired by the Disney Pixar movie UP. This easy pumpkin decorating idea is made by painting a pumpkin blue and adding pom poms in the shape of balloons.Â
DIY Disney Up Pumpkin
We are big Disney fans! We love the movies, the parks, and Disney inspired craft ideas. Every year my daughter and I make a Disney inspired pumpkin, it’s a tradition we always look forward to. When we started planning out pumpkin decorating ideas, we couldn’t help brainstorming a few Disney Pixar inspired pumpkins to make this year. The first that came to mind is this DIY Disney UP Pumpkin. Inspired by the movie and our Disney Pixar Easter Eggs, we made this blue pumpkin decorated with pom poms for balloons and the adorable UP house.
This no-carve Disney pumpkin can be made with a real or faux pumpkin. I’m using a tall faux pumpkin painted with blue spray paint. I glued large colorful pom poms on the pumpkin in the shape of a bundle of balloons, like in the movie. Using a clipart image of the UP House, I sized it down and printed it on thick cardstock, then glued it to the bottom of the pumpkin. Thin string or twine can be added to connect the house to the pom pom balloons.

How to make a no-carve Disney Pixar UP house pumpkin
- Spray paint the pumpkin with 1-2 coats of paint; allow the paint to dry overnight before decorating.
- Begin gluing on pom poms in the shape of a bundle of balloons. Use hot glue for quick dry time or tacky glue if making this pumpkin craft with kids.
- Resize an image of the UP House using Word or Photoshop to fit your pumpkin. The clipart image we used was purchased from etsy and sized to about 3 x 3.5 inches.
- After printing, cut the house out and glue twine strings to the top.
- Use double sided tape or glue to adhere the house to the pumpkin.
- Hot glue the twine strings under the pom poms.
I initially planned to use sticker paper or printable vinyl for the house and stick it directly onto the pumpkin. In the end, I preferred the way the house looked without the ridges of the pumpkin showing through. You can adhere the house straight or slightly tilted as if the house is floating away.
We are so happy with the way it turned out! I can’t wait to show you the Disney inspired pumpkins we’re working on. I recently asked on instagram which Disney princess you would like to see us create and received some amazing suggestions! Stay tuned for more pumpkin decorating ideas coming soon.
