Hi friends! I’m back with another easy holiday gift idea. I think it’s safe to assume that a lot of people enjoy baking over the holidays, or at least eating seasonal treats. Baking during the winter months brings back so many wonderful memories and it’s something I look forward to every year. Creating a baking gift set is a quick and easy gift that lets someone special know you’re thinking of them. This oven mitt gift works great as a neighbor gift or for friends and co-workers. I customized a snowflake print oven mitt with red glitter heat transfer vinyl then filled it with a cookie mix, whisk and spatula.
Supplies:
Red Glitter Heat Transfer Vinyl
Oven Mitt – I found mine at Hobby Lobby but I’m also loving these Buffalo Plaid oven mitts!
Cutting machine + svg file
- I found this design on etsy and since it’s an SVG file, you can use it with either Cricut or Silhouette. You could also create your own with hand lettered fonts, but I thought this design was perfect for my gift idea. Simply download the file and upload into the software.
- Size the design to fit your oven mitt. Place the heat transfer vinyl shiny side down on the mat. Before cutting the vinyl, make sure your machine is set to mirror the image – VERY IMPORTANT!
Once your design is cut, peel away the excess vinyl and place on top of your oven mitt. Press a hot iron over the plastic for 5-10 seconds to adhere your vinyl. Allow the plastic to cool before removing.
Cookie mixes fit perfectly into the oven mitt, I was even able to fit a spatula and whisk as well. I plan to make several for our neighbors this holiday season.
