How to make Reindeer Ornaments. Three easy ways to make reindeer ornaments using jingle bells, plastic glitter ornaments, and brown ornament balls. This Christmas craft project is great for kids or a holiday craft night.

Every year the kids and I make a Christmas ornament for our tree. It’s fun to look back on previous ornament crafts as we hang them on our tree. This year we made 3 easy reindeer ornaments.

3 easy reindeer ornament craft ideas

Reindeer Ornaments Craft

For the first ornament, we used a brown jingle bell with a rustic look. There is something so cheerful about the jingle bell reindeer ornament. My kids thought this was the funniest one. Maybe it’s because the bottom of the bell looks like he has a big grin on his face.

We used our DIY GLITTER ORNAMENTS tutorial and FAVORITE GLITTER GLUE to make brown glitter ornament balls. We then glued glitter antlers from the dollar store on top, googly eyes, and a big red glitter pom pom for the nose.

Last but not least, we decorated brown ornament balls with antlers, eyes, and a pom pom to make the easiest kid-friendly reindeer ornament craft. For younger kids, look for shatter-proof ornament balls to make this project.

How to make reindeer ornaments (VIDEO TUTORIAL)

Here is a quick video tutorial on how to make reindeer ornaments in 3 easy ways. Use hot glue or craft glue, depending on the age level making this project. If you can’t find plastic glitter antlers, pipe cleaners work well. The video and written steps below explain how to twist the pipe cleaners into antlers.

Jingle bell reindeer ornament

  • Large brown jingle bell
  • Red pom pom
  • Glitter antlers
  • Googly eyes
  • Ribbon or cord string
how to make a reindeer ornament out of a brown jingle bell
  1. Glue the googly eyes and red pom to the front of the jingle bell.
  2. Trim plastic glitter antlers to best fit the curve of the bell. Glue the antlers on top of the bell. Hot glue works quickly, but e6000 will have a stronger hold.
  3. Add ribbon, twine, or cord to the top of the bell to hang the ornament.

Glitter Ornament Ball Reindeer Craft

  • Plastic ornament ball
  • Glitter glue – this is the BEST GLITTER GLUE we’ve tried.
  • Brown glitter
  • Red pom pom
  • Glitter antlers
  • Googly eyes
  • Ribbon or cord string

  1. Fill the ornament with about a tablespoon of glitter glue. Swirl the glue around to cover the entire inside surface. Pour the glue back into the glue bottle.
  2. Add glitter inside the plastic ornament ball. Pour the excess glitter onto a sheet of paper or glitter tray to put back into the container. Set the ornament aside to dry.
  3. Decorate the front of the ornament with googly eyes and a red pom pom. Add the antlers to the top.
  4. Finish the ornament with ribbon or string to hang with.

Note: we tried using a different clear glue in the video and it doesn’t work as well as our favorite GLITTER GLUE. Save yourself the trouble of trying to get the glue to easily spread and use glitter glue instead.

Reindeer Ornament Ball

  • Red pom pom
  • Googly eyes
  • Brown or gold pipe cleaners.

  1. Decorate the ornament ball with googly eyes and a red pom pom. For younger kids, school glue or tacky glue is the easiest. An adult can help apply the decorations with hot glue for faster drying time.
  2. Cut a pipe cleaner in half, then cut one piece in half a gain. Bend the longer, untrimmed, piece in half. Twist the longer pipe cleaner around the hook of the ornament ball. Now use the two smaller pieces to twist around each longer piece. This should create 3-point antlers on each side (see video for example).
