How to make a Spring Charcuterie Board
- Start by placing 2-3 ramekins or cheese around the board. In this case, I used the tzatziki dip, flower-shaped cheese, and chocolate egg as the main focus in a diagonal line. I typically space them out in a triangle, but I quickly realized I had several big items to fit in, like the Cadbury egg nest and salami flower. Honestly, there’s no right or wrong way to assemble a charcuterie board it’s all about what you prefer.
- Arrange the food in a pattern around the board or moving towards the center. With the round board, I decided to have the outer layer in a circular pattern then played around with the direction of the smaller vegetables and candy towards the center.
- Fill in gaps with smaller food items like nuts, edible flowers, and candy. For example, I used pastel M&M’s under the chocolate eggs to add a pop of color. I also added salted almonds around the salami to fill in empty spaces.
Adding holiday candy to a charcuterie board
- Add a mix of homemade and store-bought treats. I quickly whipped up the orange chocolate-covered strawberries to add a festive holiday element. I’m a big fan of buying holiday candy from See’s Candies to my charcuterie boards. The chocolate butter eggs with small flowers and the large chocolate egg with beautiful purple flowers are from See’s candies.
- To make the strawberry carrots, dip the strawberries in melted white chocolate dyed orange. After the chocolate has set, use a piping bag to drizzle the leftover orange chocolate on top of the strawberries.
- Use candy grass to make a nest shape and fill it with Cadbury mini eggs.
- Add a variety of colorful Peeps marshmallows around the board. This adds a pop of color and ties in the Easter/Spring theme to the board.
Where to find holiday candy
- See’s Candies
- Trader Joe’s
- Williams Sonoma
- Home Goods
I typically find the best selection of holiday-themed treats at the stores listed above. If you have a specialty store or local bakery that offers unique treats, that’s a great place to start.
How to make a salami rose
My favorite method is to use a small ramekin to hold the rose in place. Start by folding a slice of salami in half and rolling it together. Continue to fold salami slices in half and rotate around the center. The shape will start to look like rose petals.
The folded salami towards the top of the board is placed overlapping each other to create a ruffle design.
