My son’s birthday is coming up, which happens to be on Halloween. It’s always been fun for him to have a birthday on Halloween and since it’s a holiday we always try to make it a little extra special. We typically have two birthday parties for him, one big and one small on his actual birthday. We’re still working out the details but this year he’s really excited to have his friends over. One of them will be a combination of The Amazing Spider-Man and Halloween themed.
This will actually be his third Spider-Man birthday party, I wasn’t kidding when I said we have some big Marvel fans in our house. Luckily the stores are brimming full with creepy spider favors, decor, and treats so I’ll have plenty to work with. I have some cute ideas planned and I’m excited to share them with you throughout the month! First on my list was to make a Spiderweb mason jar lantern. The plan is to make several of these to line up the entryway with. I even thought about making smaller ones for the kids to take home as party favors. To make them I used vinyl and my Silhouette for the spiderweb then my Lifestyle Crafts die for the spiders. I tried making the webs with paper and mod podge but the vinyl worked a lot better in this case.
I finally found The Amazing Spider-Man pre-order combo pack at Walmart today, I’ve been looking everywhere for it! If you buy the pre-order box at Walmart you the movie sent to you along On October 30th you can watch the new Spider-Man movie through Vudu, a whole week before it hits stores! Plus they’ll send you the movie to your house before the release date. How awesome is that? We didn’t get to see it in theaters so he’s pretty excited to see it at his party.
We’ve found quite a bit of party decor already here are a few things we’re thinking about, you can see more on Google+. I’m undecided between doing a blue and red theme or black and orange for Halloween. I’m leaning towards a black and orange color scheme then emphasizing on the spiders. Now to get planning, Halloween will be here before we know it!
