Next week my oldest turns ten. TEN! How is that possible? Every memory of his early years flashed before me this week. From those late nights trying to figure out what I was doing at 3am with a tiny baby to those toddler days when he loved running up and down the mall, faster than I could keep up. I can’t even get him to go to the mall with me these days, shopping is among his least favorite thing to do. As Halloween approaches, his birthday, I look back and wonder if I’ve done everything I could as a mother. I remember when he turned 5 and he asked why I was crying. I just kept thinking of that saying “the first five years are the most important in a child’s life.” Five years later all of those thoughts are back and the idea of him going away to college in 8 is almost suffocating. I have such a hard time thinking of my children growing up, I’m sure I’m not alone in this.
Being born on Halloween is hard, it’s difficult to give him undivided attention that day with siblings. He’s such a great kid though, he understands. So for the last week I’ve been trying to make all of his favorite foods and playing all of his favorite games on family nights. One of them being breadsticks. This kid loves breadsticks! His favorite are Garlic Parmesan Breadsticks.
This is a semi-homemade recipe that I’ve been making for years using Pillsbury breadsticks. The Pillsbury breadsticks are convenient on weeknights when we’re usually pressed for time. To make them I use a garlic parmesan topping with melted butter and parsley. It’s simple but one of my kid’s favorite! To make them simply pull apart the breadstick dough and add the parmesan on top or twist the breadsticks first then add the topping.
Thanks for stopping by!
