DIY Panda Bath Bombs
I’ve been sharing DIY Bath Bomb recipes for a few years now, so I’m always looking for fun new ways to make them. Lately, my daughter has been wanting to make her own bath bombs and we thought this Panda Bear Bath Bomb would be a great way to get her involved in the process. The best thing about making your own bath bombs is that you can get really creative with the designs, shapes, colors and scents. One of our favorites is this UNICORN BATH BOMB.
How to make bath bombs for kids
To make panda bath bombs you will need a sturdy mold that will help hold the shape when firmly pressing the mixture in. I like to use the plastic mold linked below because it shapes the bath bombs perfectly and they are easy to remove. Once the bath bomb was ready we painted the nose, eyes and ears with a black cosmetic powder mixed with isopropyl alcohol. You can watch the quick video below for a full tutorial.

DIY Panda Bath Bombs
Ingredients
- 1 cup baking soda
- ½ cup citric acid
- ½ cup Epsom salt
- ½ cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons coconut oil liquified
- ¾ tsp water
- 15-20 drops peppermint essential oil
- 1/4-1/2 tsp cosmetic powder
- isopropyl alcohol
Instructions
- Combine dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
- In a small cup, combine coconut oil, water and essential oil.
- Slowly mix liquids with dry ingredients while whisking together. The mixture may start to fizz a little, so it’s important to mix thoroughly right away and not use too much water.
- Test your bath bomb mix by grabbing a handful in your fist (see video above).
- Firmly press bath bomb mix into the mold; allow to dry overnight.
- Carefully remove from mold by gently pressing upside down onto a towel or soft surface.
- Mix 1/4 tsp black cosmetic powder with a few drops of isopropyl alcohol until it’s thick enough to brush on.
- Use a small brush to paint the eyes, nose and ears. Wait until dry before storing.

Note: I tend to eyeball the cosmetic powder and isopropyl alcohol mixture. You want it to be runny enough to paint but thick enough that it will be opaque black. A good way to find the right consistency is to slowly add the alcohol with a dropper. Another note is that sometimes I use a small spray bottle of witch hazel, if my mixture seems a little dry. It can depend on the humidity and temperature where I live. Reference THIS POST for more tips.
